AYRE OFFSHORE WINDFARM
The Community Engagement Manager, Thistle Wind Partners, an
Edinburgh-based business, founded with a focus on Scottish offshore wind
development has notified Stronsay Community Council that later this year
they will be submitting marine licence applications to construct an
offshore windfarm and associated transmission infrastructure for the
Ayre Offshore Windfarm.The proposed windfarm will have the potential to
generate around 1GW of renewable energy and is located 22km off the east
coast of Orkney.
The licensable activity consists of:
Up to 67 wind turbines (floating or fixed foundations)
Up to two offshore substations, connected to the turbines via
inter-array cablesUp to three Interconnector cables
Up to 20 Subsea collectors. Up to four export cables to the landfall
location of Sinclair's Bay in Caithness.
Thistle Wind Partners will be sharing their progress with a series of
formal Pre-Application Consultation (PAC) events as detailed below.This
will enable the team to gather feedback prior to finalising their
proposals and they hope that you will be able to attend. A virtual
consultation room will also be available for those unable to attend in
person at www.twp.scot/ayre
