Community Engagement Manager, Thistle Wind Partners, an
Edinburgh-based business, founded with a focus on Scottish
offshore wind development has notified Stronsay Community
Council that later this year they will be submitting marine
licence applications to construct an offshore windfarm and
associated transmission infrastructure for the Ayre Offshore
Windfarm.<span style="mso-spacerun:yes"> </span>The proposed
windfarm will have the potential to generate around 1GW of
renewable energy and is located 22km off the east coast of
Orkney. </span></p>
