<p class="MsoNormal"><b><u>SSEN Distribution statement – Stronsay
power outages </u></b></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> Last Tuesday a fault developed at our
substation on Stronsay, affecting supplies to 222 properties. To
restore supplies and minimise the impact to homes and businesses,
temporary mobile generation has been brought in as an interim
measure. This is currently powering all homes and businesses on
the islands with refuelling and resource plans in place to
maintain supply. An additional mobile generator will also arrive
on Stronsay tomorrow for contingency purposes.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> To further protect the stability of power
supplies to homes and businesses, and prevent additional power
cuts, we have asked embedded generators on Stronsay to temporarily
limit their export at this time.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> Investigations with a view to conducting
permanent repairs are ongoing and we will share further timescales
as they are known, alongside continued dialogue with all affected
generators.</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> A spokesperson from SSEN Distribution said:</p>
<p class="MsoNormal"> <i>“We would like to apologise to all our
customers on Stronsay for the impact this fault has caused. Our
engineers are doing all they can to identify, and repair, the
fault as quickly as possible, while ensuring homes and business
remain powered through mobile generation.</i></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><i> “We remain in dialogue with the generators
affected and will provide an update on the restoration of
permanent supplies as soon as investigations are fully
complete.”</i></p>
