Towards the end of 2025, Sanday Community Council/SSE Windfarm Community 
Fund agreed to fund a book to celebrate the 75th North Isles Sports. 
This book details the preparations leading up to the day itself and 
gives a chronological account of all the individual track and field 
events. Photographs depict many of those involved in the preparations 
and include action pictures of the individual event winners, as well as 
team-line-ups taking part in the Junior and Senior Football and Netball 
competitions, and the Tug o’ War.

Up-to-date tables are included for record holders and members of the 
North Isles Sports Hall of Fame (All-Round Champions for three 
successive years), and there is a chapter describing the appearance of 
several North Isles athletes in the Island Games held in Kirkwall in 
July 2025.

There is also a section dealing with the value of athletic performances, 
and compares record-holders with those of Orkney, the Island Games, and 
even World Record-holders.

I am very pleased that Jennifer Graham (Stronsay) agreed, again, to be 
proofreader, and designer, so the format of the 165-page book (with 250 
illustrations) is the same as the 75-year history published last year:

There is a limited number of books available, but the ‘Launch Day’ 
(20^th June on Stronsay) price is £10 – but it’s not too late to reserve 
a copy in advance for that price. After that, the cost will be £15. All 
income from sales will revert to Sanday Community Council.
