Hi folks – here’s this evenings update at 20:00 on Thursday 8 January:
👉It is anticipated that all schools will be open as normal tomorrow, 
however we continue to monitor the situation and will provide further 
updates tomorrow morning if required.
👉We will provide further information about school transport first thing 
tomorrow.
👉Papdale Halls are open for any residents who are able to safely make 
it to the building.
👉Day care services, which were closed today, will be closed again tomorrow.
👉The team have been trying hard to do as many waste collections today 
where conditions have allowed. If your bin wasn't collected today in 
areas 9,12, or 14 unfortunately we will be unable to collect your 
general waste until your next scheduled collection - see schedule at

Waste bags can be taken to a household waste and recycling centre.
👉Tomorrow we will do our best to collect in areas 10, 11, 13 and 15 - 
but cannot guarantee reaching everyone, as this is dependent on road 
conditions. We would ask, where safe to do so, for bins at the top of 
winding or sloped roads to be taken to the nearest public road for to

👉We anticipate that Customer Services at the School Place building will 
re-open tomorrow, after being closed today – the team are still 
contactable by phone and emails in the meantime.
👉Stagecoach services have been cancelled for the rest of the day, but 
will be reviewed first thing tomorrow.
👉All sport and leisure facilities remain open as normal, with the 
exception of 3G synthetic and grass pitches, which are closed.
👉The Shapinsay gritter has been repaired and will be back in service at 
06:00 tomorrow.
👉We are looking to schedule a gritter to Egilsay for tomorrow.
👉Flotta’s gritter is still under repair but we’d like to re-iterate our 
thanks to Flotta Oil Terminal who have very kindly cleared and gritted 
roads.
👉All other islands should be receiving gritter services as normal.
