*Fundraising campaign enters new phase *
*Help us reach the finishing line!*
Earlier this month we announced the incredible news that the Scottish
Government has contributed £500,000 to the Save Our Screen Machine
campaign (read their press release here
<https://screenmachine.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=481366d61828cfc0003c856c2&id=781bf565e6&e=5e77b5da1b>).
This could not have been possible without all the letters of support so
many of you wrote back in 2023 to bring our situation to the attention
of your elected representatives. We express our deepest thanks to
everyone who took the time to write to them.
Our campaign now moves into a new phase. Combining this government money
with other pledges and donations (including the approximate £50,000 from
the public) raised so far, we have been able to place an order for the
construction of a new mobile cinema.
While this is a significant step in our campaign, *we must stress that
we have not reached the finishing line*. Some of the pledges stipulate
that we must raise the remaining balance by the end of 2025 or we will
not be awarded the funds. We are still £450,000 short of the total £1.7
million cost, and we will now focus on raising this remaining balance
over the next six months.
Simon Drysdale, Interim Chief Executive Officer of Regional Screen
Scotland, said:
/“Our fundraising has had some fantastic boosts in recent weeks, but
there is still much to be done. We are writing applications to many
large Trusts and Foundations, who we hope will donate significant funds.
Our customers and supporters continue to donate every day, through
adding a little to their ticket purchases, putting cash in our donations
bucket or supporting our Crowdfunder campaign. We urge our customers and
supporters to keep giving to help us close the funding gap and reach our
target.”/

A reminder our Crowdfunder is still active, and you can donate by

when you book your tickets.
We appreciate all donations to our cause, whether they're big or small.
Thank you for all your support so far.

Harriet, our Development Coordinator and big */Mission: Impossible/*
fan, saw it at the weekend and wanted to share her thoughts on the film:
/'Not only the sequel to 2023’s Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning,
Final Reckoning also marks the culmination of Tom Cruise’s eight film,
thirty years journey as producer and star. If you love the Mission
films, you’ll love this latest offer, and if you’ve never seen one,
don’t worry, the history of the series is woven into the exposition and
plot so that the high stakes are never in doubt. Mission: Impossible
films are what cinema is for: the joy of a big screen, breathless thrill
ride, set pieces and stunts carried out by real people, in epic
locations, keeping you on the edge of your seat until you can heave a
sigh of relief.'/
If you'd prefer something at a slightly slower pace, you can watch the
biographical drama */The Salt Path/*

starring Gillian Anderson and Jason Isaacs. Based on the memoir of the
same name, they star as Raynor and Moth Winn, who simultaneously receive
a significant medical diagnosis and lose their family home. With pennies
in their pockets and nowhere to go, they start walking the South West
Coast Path, a 630-mile uninterrupted path around southwestern England.
Struggling initially, they soon discover that home is anywhere so long
as they have each other.
And for our younger audience, we'll be showing */Lilo & Stitch/*
<https://screenmachine.us2.list-manage.com/track/click?u=481366d61828cfc0003c856c2&id=39d17a1791&e=5e77b5da1b>,
the live-action/CGI remake of Disney's animated original from 2002.
Six-year-old Lilo finds a friend in her new blue 'dog' she names Stitch.
But Stitch is an illegal alien experiment designed to cause chaos and
mayhem, and is being hunted by both human and alien agents. As his bond
with Lilo grows, Stitch starts to reconsider his destructive behaviour.
Funny and silly, it's a heartwarming tale about friendship and family.
