We’ve got a brilliant line-up of FREE creative and practical workshops 
happening this August – all designed for adults and supported by the 
Adult Health & Wellbeing Fund. Come along, learn something new, and 
enjoy some great company while you're at it! More info on time and

🎨 Art: Polished Pastels
Pastel chalks can be tricky — they break easily, smudge, and need 
special paper and fixative to protect the finished work. This friendly 
workshop helps you explore simple ways to handle pastels with 
confidence. No previous art skills needed — just curiosity and a 
willingness to experiment!
🐚 Wildlife: Rock Pool Explorers
Discover the tiny worlds hidden in our local rock pools. This session 
will guide you through recording and identifying the amazing wildlife 
living in these small but vital ecosystems. Perfect for curious minds 
who love nature up close!
🌿 Gardening: Summer Garden Jobs
Get hands-on with practical gardening skills for this time of year. 
We’ll cover essential tasks like weeding, hoeing, watering, and how to 
care for your equipment. Plus, learn how to handle Orkney’s unique 
challenges — wind, short seasons, pests and more — so your garden can 
thrive.
📸 Photography: Improve Your Shots
Bring your camera — and your questions! This friendly session will help 
you understand composition, focus, and the ‘rule of thirds’. Try out 
different styles like portraits, landscapes or photojournalism. You’ll 
even take a photo during the session to share with the group a great 
chance to learn by doing.
❗ All workshops are free and for over 16s only.
