I am sure that all of you are fully aware of this proposal and how, due
the sheer size and siting of these turbines, they would all be very
visible from your islands. I am convinced they would not only be
extremely detrimental to tourism on Eday with the knock on effects that
would have within the sector, self catering units and B&B’s going out of
business plus ancillary worker like gardeners, cleaners working at
these establishments losing their jobs. There would also be a completely
negative effect on the Warness walk at the south end of Eday as it falls
completely within the wind farm boundary line. Locals and tourists alike
on your islands would have the present sweeping and exquisite panorama’s
ruined by these monster turbines and as a consequence tourists will stop
visiting having lost one of the key reasons for visiting the North Isles.
As this has now gone to the planning stage would you please circulate
this mail to all of your island contacts and hopefully they will write
to OIC objecting to this development.
This is a link to a web site about the development
https://www.preserve-eday.co.uk.
Attached is a screenshot of OIC local development plan with the areas
in green considered to be good for wind farm development. Scary.
