School Closure Reminder - Island Games 2025
Following the Orkney International Island Games last month, we're 
reminding parents and carers about adjusted return dates for four of our 
schools.
Kirkwall Grammar, Papdale Primary, Stromness Academy, and Stromness 
Primary were used as accommodation for Island Games athletes and 
visitors during the event.
Our school staff need extra time to restore classrooms to their usual 
setup, so these four schools will reopen on Thursday 21 August instead 
of Tuesday 19 August.
Please note that Papdale Halls of Residence will also be closed on the 
affected dates. All other Orkney schools will return as normal on 19 
August, including Papdale and Stromness nurseries.
