Hi folks, just wanting to give some advance warning of some survey work
taking place on some Stronsay beaches tomorrow (Monday 17th June). We
are doing sweep net surveys to check for the presence of sea trout
there. This work is being carried out as part of sea trout monitoring
across Orkney, for Cooke and Scottish Seafarms. Sampling involves the
use of a 50m net that's deployed from the beach using a small inflatable
boat. We'll have a 4x4 on the beach as well. Any trout caught are
counted and checked for lice before being released. We'll be working on
the Bay of Holland and Mill Bay. I'd be interested to know if anyone has
seen or caught sea trout there at any time in the past.
