/From Liam McArthur & Alistair Carmichael:/

The next Orkney Digital Forum will be taking place in just under six
weeks’ time, giving islanders the chance to *learn more about the
planned ‘Digital Voice’ rollout* and the transition away from
traditional analogue landline services.

As with previous Forum meetings, we will also be receiving *updates on
mobile and broadband internet rollout* *across Orkney* from Openreach
and EE.

*We’re pleased to confirm that we will have the following speakers in
attendance:*

  * Nick Speed, Head of Nations & Regions at BT (also speaking for EE)
  * Glenn Preston, Director of Ofcom Scotland
  * Robert Thorburn, Openreach Partnership Director for Scotland

The event will take place from*12-2pm on Friday 31 May in the St Magnus
Centre, Kirkwall*, *with a ‘hybrid’ option available* so that those
unable to attend in person can tune in and participate online. As with
previous Digital Forums, the format will consist of presentations from
speakers followed by open Q&A sessions.

Anyone who wants to find out more about either the digital switchover or
the expansion of connectivity in the isles is welcome to come along.
Information on how to join remotely will be shared in due course. In the
meantime, you are welcome to register your interest at the Facebook
event listed**here https://www.facebook.com/events/909673614218491.
