We had a great day at the Heritage Centre last Saturday when Paul
Johnson and Gail Drinkall came out to give us guidance on the care and
treatment of some of our cultural heritage objects. After showing us the
tools and materials we would be using, all of which were quite easily
available, and how and when to use them we sat down to some 'hands on '
cleaning. It certainly transformed all the items we were working with,
particularly some old horse harness. This harness was donated by John
Holloway just a few weeks ago and would probably have been hanging on
their hooks on the wall ever since the last horse was loosed out at the
Castle around 75 years ago! The photo shows one half in its original
condition and one half cleaned and treated - quite a difference! We all
learned a great deal, thoroughly enjoyed the day and would like to pass
on huge thanks to Paul and Gail for their easy going tuition and help.
