Liam McArthur MSP received this earlier this afternoon from Emily
Wilson-Gavin, Head of Corporate Affairs, Scottish and Southern
Electricity Networks (SSEN).

“/Further to your inquiry earlier this morning about the power outage
impacting your constituents in Stronsay, we’ve issued the below
statement that we will be communicating to our customers, stakeholders
and partners through our established channels to explain the current
situation and the actions that we are taking to restore power as soon as
possible. /

/Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) is working to address
a fault on Stronsay, which has resulted in 222 customers experiencing an
interruption to power supplies. Engineers were alerted to the substation
fault at around 7pm yesterday and are on site working to quickly and
safely restore supplies, with all customers expected to be back on
supply this afternoon./

/As a contingency measure, SSEN is taking further steps to transport a
mobile generator to the island this afternoon; ensuring that additional
back-up power is in place and on site if required. Stronsay’s network is
currently undergoing a significant upgrade to boost the resilience of
the island’s supplies and while this work is under way, SSEN is taking
all necessary steps to keep power flowing to the island’s homes and
businesses./

/SSEN apologises for any inconvenience this interruption to supplies has
caused and thanks Stronsay’s residents for their patience while
engineers work to safely reinstate power supplies.//
Any customers who are concerned about vulnerability during a power cut
are asked to consider signing up for SSEN’s Priority Services Register./
